The DEI & Design Program consists of 4 modules where each module has a theme;
Module 1: DESIGNING FOR DEI
We are starting the program of the first module focused on how to design for diversity, equity and inclusion. What does it mean? Where could designers start? The first module will guide you through these questions.
Module 2: DESIGNING FOR NEURODIVERSITY
The overall focus of Designing for Neurodiversity will be to explore more inclusive principles and frameworks of digital design to inspire and teach designers to be more aware of cognitive diversity. In this module, we will more specifically delve into the understanding of how to design for neurodiversity aiming to provide you with knowledge and insights to design digital products that cater to a wide range of neurological differences. You will gain more knowledge on how to design for users with neurological differences, such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism and other conditions which are all natural variations of the human experience but often overlooked within a design process.
Module 3: DESIGNING FOR GENDER DIVERSITY
Designing for Gender Diversity will dive into physical and physiological diversity, and specifically gender diversity. Gender diversity has typically taken a lot of focus when it comes to talking about diversity – but how can digital designers actually design for gender diversity? This module aims to foster more understanding and nuanced design concepts related to gender diversity and how designers can apply these in digital experiences to create and shape more inclusive, empathetic and equitable designs.
Module 4: DESIGNING FOR CULTURAL DIVERSITY
The final module, Designing for Cultural Diversity, is going to look at DEI through the context of social diversity. The importance of bringing together and being able to design for multiple cultures through digital experiences cannot be underestimated, which is why we will focus on how to design for the richness, diversity and lived experiences of various cultures. Through the talks, interaction and workshops of this module participants will get insights and tools to better navigate cultural diversity and be able to shape more inclusive and equitable experiences and products – not only through their design thinking but also through design doing.
