Design Matters, a Copenhagen-based team organizing international conference on digital design – made for designers, by designers conference arrived to Lagos in November 23 for the first time ever. Bringing on stage a global and interdisciplinary network of experts to discuss design and dive into design practices from a variety of perspectives and disciplines. The event aims at defining and leading the agenda on the most important issues concerning UX/UI, innovation, tech, and sustainability.

Despite the world being so well connected, it is not always easy to know what’s hot on the other side of the globe and which trends or movements are taking over the old ones. Being left behind is so easy in such a competitive world! And for designers, it’s important that they’re always up to date and aware of the directions design is moving towards.

In today’s digital world, e-government, fintech, and e-health platforms are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. But how are these platforms designed to meet the needs and preferences of users? This theme will explore the latest design trends in e-government, fintech, and e-health, what they mean for the future of these industries and how they plan to make these services more accessible, engaging, and personalized.

SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

With this theme, we want to share how a Scandinavian design philosophy can be used within digital design. We incorporate a personal, playful, and casual approach into our designs and processes to make the experience more engaging and fun. As Danish designers, we also use this approach to make our event come to life. With Design Matters Lagos we want to bring a bit of Scandinavia to Nigeria, giving participants the chance to experience part of the Scandinavian culture and vibes. You’ve probably heard of the word hygge, which is that feeling of coziness and comfort one experiences in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We aim to bring a very hyggelig atmosphere to Lagos too!

THE DESIGN SUPERHERO

Design, we believe, has the power to transform, disrupt, and captivate. This theme celebrates the daring nature of designers who boldly venture into uncharted territory, reimagining what’s possible and challenging trends and design policies. Designers, like superheroes, have unique talents, skills, and perspectives that can shape the digital world we interact with while also inspiring others. This theme will enable designers to demonstrate their superhero abilities in digital form, allowing them to create transformative experiences and shape the future of design. Designers, like superheroes, have the potential to change the world through their unique perspectives and skill sets.
