AI is back with a swing. When I say it is back I mean it, or did you forget about Clipy? What about IBM Watson? Or the Google Assistant? We have been here before at the bombastic announcement of a version of some sort of artificial intelligence that will revolutionize our world. However something is different this time: There is a large worldwide community of human centered designers that can help define and craft this new wave of tools for the better to avoid bias and foster playfulness and empathy. Let’s talk about the qualities of intelligence that are still missing and worth bringing into this new wave of tools through the eyes of different products and historical experiences.
